A STATEMENT FROM THE WRITERS

Jim Ousley & Oscar Madrid

When we sat down to write THE BLOODFEST CLUB, our goal was to celebrate the films that thrilled us in our youth. From the John Hughes films that found humor in the trials and tribulations of high school life, to the horror films of the 80s like EVIL DEAD 2, THE LOST BOYS, and THE MONSTER SQUAD; these are the movies that shaped our cinematic outlook. They were the films that became the fabric of our formative teenage years, when we fell in love with the movies.

We created the character of Sonny Kane as the ultimate good guy; an ordinary man who becomes a hero once he is thrust into an extraordinary set of circumstances. On the surface, he’s an over-looked janitor at a high school who oftentimes winds up as the butt of a joke. In reality, he is a comedic hero in the classic sense; an underdog who possesses a genuine sense of right and wrong in a morally ambiguous world. Sonny Kane is the perfect choice to defend the seniors of Chatsworth Academy against an alien zombie invasion.

In THE BLOODFEST CLUB, there are real characters with real consequences. When people are finished watching the film, we want their ribs to be hurting because they’re laughing and screaming. We want the laughs to be good and the scares to be real. Far from being a lightweight spoof, THE BLOODFEST CLUB is a throwback to a time when horror comedies had characters you cared about, a funny story you could believe in, and a hero who you knew could save the day.

We hope that you’ll come along for the ride!
